Coolsculpting

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical body contouring treatment that reduces stubborn fat. It's effective on areas like the abdomen, thighs, and under the chin.

Treatment Information

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting, also known as cryolipolysis, is a non-invasive fat reduction procedure. It uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat that resists diet and exercise. The treatment targets and cools fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated from the body. This process results in a noticeable and lasting reduction of fat in treated areas, without the need for surgery or significant downtime.

What results can I expect?

CoolSculpting effectively reduces fat in targeted areas, leading to a more sculpted and toned appearance. Results are typically visible after a few weeks, with the most dramatic results observed after two months. The body continues to flush out fat cells for up to four to six months after treatment. While individual results vary, patients often experience a significant reduction in the treated area’s fat layer. It’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, as the remaining fat cells can still enlarge with weight gain. The procedure is not a weight-loss solution but an effective method for reducing localised fat deposits.

What are the potential risks / side effects of this procedure?

CoolSculpting is known for its safety and effectiveness. However, as with any cosmetic procedure, there are potential risks and side effects:

  • Temporary Numbness or Discomfort: Some patients experience temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, or tingling in the treated area.
  • Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia: A rare condition where the treated area becomes larger instead of smaller.
  • Skin Sensitivity: The treated area may feel tender or sensitive for a short period following the procedure.

It’s essential to consult with one of our spa’s specialists to understand these risks and determine if CoolSculpting is right for you.

How do I prepare for the treatment?

To prepare for CoolSculpting:

  • Schedule a consultation with one of our specialists to discuss your goals and determine if you’re an ideal candidate.
  • It’s recommended to avoid medications that can increase bleeding, like aspirin or ibuprofen, a few days before the procedure.
  • Stay hydrated, as good hydration can help with the body’s process of eliminating the destroyed fat cells.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing on the day of your treatment.

What happens during the treatment?

At the beginning of your CoolSculpting treatment, the targeted area will first be marked and covered with a protective gel pad. The CoolSculpting device will then be applied, delivering controlled cooling to the fat cells. This procedure typically lasts between 35 minutes to an hour per treated area. You may also feel intense cold initially, which usually subsides as the area becomes numb.

What should I do after my treatment?

Aftercare for CoolSculpting is fairly straightforward. In most cases, it involves the following, simple steps:

  • Manage Discomfort: If you experience any discomfort, over-the-counter pain relief can be used.
  • Massage the Area: Gently massaging the treated area can help in the dispersal of the treated fat cells.
  • Healthy Lifestyle: Maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine to enhance and prolong results.

Most patients are able to resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. However, follow-up appointments with a specialist can also help you maintain your progress and explore alternative treatments.
