Treatment Information

What is Dermapen?

Dermapen (microneedling) treatment is a popular, non-invasive microneedling procedure that uses a handheld device with fine, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This process triggers the body’s natural wound-healing response, increasing collagen and elastin production for skin rejuvenation, reducing wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation.

What results can I expect?

Dermapen treatments stimulate collagen and elastin, providing firmer, smoother, and more radiant skin with significantly reduced fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and pigmentation. Typically, you can expect improvements in the skin’s appearance and texture after just one session. After only 8-12 weeks, you’ll start to notice the lasting and more significant results. Your skin continues to improve for up to 12 months, particularly if you follow the recommended post-treatment care.

What are the potential risks / side effects of this procedure?

Dermapen treatments are generally safe and well-tolerated, but they involve creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin, which can lead to temporary side effects. Common side effects typically last for a few days and include redness and warmth similar to a mild-to-moderate sunburn.

How do I prepare for the treatment?

To prepare for a Dermapen treatment, stop using active ingredients (retinoids, exfoliants) 3-7 days prior, avoid sun exposure, and ensure your skin is healthy and hydrated.

What happens during treatment?

Dermapen treatment involves using a handheld device with fine, sterile needles to create thousands of, vertical, microscopic channels in the skin, triggering a natural, collagen-stimulating healing response. The 30–60 minute session, which often includes numbing cream for comfort, boosts skin rejuvenation, reduces fine lines, scars, and improves texture and tone.

What should I do after my treatment?

After a Dermapen treatment, focus on gentle hydration and skin protection for 24–48 hours. The use of gentle cleansers, hyaluronic acid, and sunscreen is recommended whilst ceasing use of active skincare (such as retinol and exfoliants), wearing of makeup, exercising intensely, or direct sun exposure to the skin for 1–3 days is important.
